2020 MolSSI Software Workshops
The Molecular Sciences Software Institute (MolSSI) is pleased to announce a call for proposals for its 2020 Software Workshops – a series of community-led events focused on software-related challenges relevant to the broad field of computational molecular sciences, including biomolecular and macromolecular simulation, quantum chemistry, and materials science. MolSSI workshops will typically last two to three days, and all will receive logistical and financial support from the Institute. Workshops may be held at locations convenient to their target audience, or the MolSSI can assist in identifying a venue or host the workshop at our headquarters in Blacksburg.
Deadline: February 8th 2020
Eligibility and Selection Criteria:
The MolSSI Software Workshop program is presently limited to proposals from U.S. organizations, but workshops may be held outside of the U.S. if it would best serve the target community. In addition, we encourage participation by a diverse audience and representatives from academic institutions, industry, national laboratories, and the cyberinfrastructure community. The MolSSI Software Workshops are an equal opportunity program open to all qualified persons without regard to race, gender, religion, age, physical disability or national origin.
MolSSI Software Workshop proposals will be reviewed promptly by the MolSSI Board of Directors using selection criteria based on (1) the relevance of the proposed workshop topic to the Institute’s goals; (2) the breadth of the impact across the molecular sciences; and (3) the strength and diversity of the participant list.
Note that an essential component of any MolSSI workshop is a strong connection to software challenges facing the community.
A complete MolSSI Software Workshop Proposal must include:
Each MolSSI workshop will be expected to provide a follow-up report to the Institute’s leadership describing the presentations, activities, discussions, and outcomes of the meeting. Most workshops – especially those focused on software bottlenecks and challenges – will also prepare one or more “use cases” that outline a specific scientific target and the models, workflows, and algorithms needed to reach it.
To receive full consideration for a workshop in 20120, please upload your proposal by February 8th, 2020. Stay tuned to molssi.org for more information about the Institute and its many opportunities for the computational molecular sciences community.
